This device plugs into the USB port on a regular PC. You insert a SIM card & it dumps out the contents of the phonebook & SMS messages. It will even recover deleted text messages that were stored on the SIM, providing they've not been overwritten. It does all this in around 60 seconds.

In my test, the software below shows 4 received & deleted texts, along with sending number, time & date sent, and message contents. (I've airbrushed the last 3 digits in the photo)

This device won't get around any PIN locked SIM card. Also, some phones store messages in their own memory, rather than on the SIM - if you're not sure about your phone then try a spare PAYG Sim in it, send a text to the phone and then whip out that Sim, if the message is still there the phone stores the texts in it's own memory & you won't recover anything with this tool. Even if the message was on the Sim it's still possible that the phone will secure erase the message, in which case you'll recover nothing.  It also won't recover deleted phonebooks & it won't work with the '3' network phones & SIMs.

We get a few people buying this tool and then wanting to return it when they discover their phone doesn't store it's messages on the Sim. We DON'T sell this item on a 'sale or return' basis - you buy to keep, even if it turns out your phone stores messages in it's own memory. If you get a genuinely faulty unit, we'll swop it.

Please don't call asking whether your model will work with the device. I know absolutely that an old Nokia 3310 works fine with a Vodafone Sim but that's the extent of our testing. There are just too many models to give definitive answers. Try the procedure described above with a PAYG Sim to test approximate compatibility if you wish before ordering.
