Bootable Windows Recovery CD

This recovery solution is based around the excellent Ubuntu Linux Live-CD. It's a complete operating system on a bootable CD. We have tailored it to include file recovery software, a virus removal package, a partition manager and a Windows administrator password recovery tool (XP only). We supply full step-by-step instructions, so you can't go far wrong.

Other recovery CDs may include proprietory Microsoft content. Our CD contains only Linux & a free for home use AV solution. Our CD will come next day in the post, if you're in the UK and order before 1pm.

As you'll see in the photo below, you can mount the Windows hard drive and a USB pen drive, you can then drag all those crucial files across to the pen drive before reloading Windows, or try running the included AV software over the drive. Once you've run the Linux AV software over the drive, you'll usually be able to reboot into Windows, and launch other Windows based clean up software once you're back in.

All from a single bootable CD

To use our CD you simply set the computer's BIOS to start from the CD drive, rather than the Hard Drive - you usually do this by pressing DEL, ESC, F1, F2 or F12 at Bootup. Most computers tell you what to press when you power-on.

This version of Ubuntu is a major advance over the older versions, because it will reliably write to the NTFS partitions of a Windows XP or Vista PC - older versions could only write to the FAT partitions of Windows 98 & ME.

System requirements: a 1GHz or faster processor, 512MB or more memory, a working CD or DVD drive. A USB memory pen for recovering files. A Broadband Ethernet router for Windows login password recovery (not a USB broadband modem, or dial up!). Windows XP or Vista as the installed operating system.

If the problem with your PC turns out to be a hardware - rather than software - issue, this CD isn't going to help you. It won't fix faulty memory modules or a duff hard drive. No refunds with this CD - it does exactly what we've described. If you receive a damaged CD we'll replace it.

User requirements: Doesn't matter if you've never used Linux before. Instructions are simple to follow & you can call us for help if you need it. You should be proficient with Windows though - ie. understand how folders are organised on your hard drive, etc.
